What were your objectives and how have they been fulfilled?
My objectives were to improve my management skills. This was achieved on many levels as through the training I was able to understand what it means to be a manager and the different aspects of managing people, including understanding the different ways people learn, the different ways people like to be supervised, the methods of motivating someone to achieve their best and how to approach/resolve a situation involving conflict. I began to see the relevance of management theories that I had studied before as they were pulled off the page and applied to my real life situation.
Were there any objectives not fulfilled and if so what were they?
There were no objectives not fulfilled. Alison ensured this by preparing a personal development plan with me. Alison also gave me a call to talk about my progress and check I hadn’t come across any new problems since the original training. Through this discussion I was able to analyse how I had applied my training in different situations to see if I could have approached them in a different way to perhaps achieve the desired outcome more efficiently.
What impact have you seen on your staff and/or business?
I think I have been able to monitor and direct the performance of my employee better. This has allowed me to help my employee’s development, improve their efficiency and increase their motivation at work. I expect that my improved management skills will also enable me to delegate more and so allow me to begin to develop my role and responsibilities.
Do you have any suggestions as to how we could improve our service?
I think the service has been great. I really appreciate everything Alison has done for me as I feel more confident as a manager. I found the review and catch up over the phone after the initial training session particularly useful. I think this is one of many differentiating features of Darrington training.
