Fundraising Events
¤ Christian Aid Week - 11th to 17th May 2008
This year Needham Market has generously donated in excess of £2700 for Christian Aid. Thank you to everyone for their donation and the hard work of all the volunteers for helping to beat the 2007 total of £2300. Christian Aid supports 700 organisations working in over 50 developing countries to help meet peoples most basic of needs. ¤ Concerts
Concerts are run several times a year and cover a wide range of musical tastes. The last concert was on 11th April featuring Folk on the Hill with guests Pluck & Squeeze. A good time was had by all and £650 was raised for church funds. Thank you all.
¤ Produce Stalls - next stall Saturday 6th September 2008
Outside the church, the first Saturday of each month between April and October we have a stall which sells local produce, plants, bric a brac, books, toys, and many cakes, scones, jams etc. Please do help support the monthly stalls which are very popular and there is always more demand than the quantity of cakes! Last year these stalls alone raised more than £1000 for church funds.
¤ Lent Soup Lunch
Every year on the Saturdays during Lent we run a soup lunch. All the money raised goes to our link Diocese in Kagera. In 2008 we raised an incredible £350! Please do come along and join us next lent.
¤ Summary of 2007
In 2007 we wanted to get to know the community better and invited them to attend our celebration of our patron saint, St John. We ran a programme of events in the Church which rasied over £5,000 with the proceeds going towards the building fund. Amongst other events, we will had displays of the church as it was in the past, as it is in the present and as we pray it will be in the future. On the same weekend, the Needham in Bloom Open Gardens Day was run for the benefit of St Johns, and raised a further £600 by their generosity. In total, we have raised approximately £36,500 towards the renovation and re-ordering work that we are planning. We have a further promise of £30,000 from the diocese towards the re-ordering which comes from the sale of the parish house. We have now begun to plan phase 1 which is to have the work done to the roof and clerestory windows to make the building weather-proof again. At one recent service during heavy rain it began to rain inside also! We continue to explore ideas of how the church can best be re-ordered and continue to raise funds for this necessary work. Here is a summary of what has been raised in 2007.
